Transfer Scholarships

The Transfer Merit Scholarship covers the cost of tuition and is renewable for up to four semesters. Students must be enrolled with a 3.25 GPA and have at least 12 transfer credit hours.

 

To be considered, students must complete the registration process at AAMU and pay the $30 application fee and $115 enrollment fee. A scholarship application is not required.

Athens State University offers scholarship programs that could provide additional resources to meet the goal of earning a bachelor’s degree.

Incoming transfer students accepted for admission must complete the scholarship application through the Auburn University Scholarship Opportunity Manager (AUSOM) by Feb. 1 to receive consideration for scholarships. The deadline to apply for a scholarship for Fall admission is Aug. 1. The application deadline for Spring admission is Dec. 15.

NEW - SAN PRESIDENTIAL SCHOLARSHIP

One full scholarship (tuition and fees) will be awarded to 1 new AUM transfer student. To be eligible, student will have to have completed 45 credit hours, have a minimum of a 3.5 GPA, and a letter of recommendation from the Community College President. Scholarship applications must be submitted to SPAN partner college for consideration.

Recipients must maintain full-time enrollment, 3.0 AUM GPA, and participate in AUM’s Transfer Ambassador Program to sustain the scholarship through graduation.

Transfer scholarships to Faulkner University are awarded based on cumulative GPA from all colleges attended.

• 3.8-4.0 GPA  – $8,000
• 3.4-3.79 GPA  - $7,000
• 3.0-3.39 GPA - $6,000
• 2.5-2.99 GPA - $5,000
• 2.0-2.49 GPA - $4,000

Phi Theta Kappa Scholarship — Up to $2,500 — Must be a Phi Theta Kappa member in good standing — Must have at least 60 hours of transferrable college credit — Minimum of 3.25 GPA

Additional need-based scholarships may be considered for transfers upon receiving FAFSA. Extracurricular scholarships (band, choir, eSports, etc.) may also be considered.

To be considered for the JAX State scholarships listed below students must:

• Be unconditionally admitted to JAX State
• Have a minimum of 45 semester hours of transferable credit earned (unless noted below)
• Have a final overall transfer GPA as determined by JAX State that meets the requirement listed

 

Transfer Merit Scholarships
Upon admittance to JAX State, students will be considered automatically for the following Transfer Merit Scholarships based on GPA:

• Academic Transfer Scholarship – 3.0-3.49 GPA – $1,500/semester for four semesters (Fall)
• Spring Supplemental Transfer Scholarship (nonrenewable) – 3.5+ GPA, $1,500 – 3.0-3.49 GPA, $750 – For one semester. Qualified students may use other awarded merit scholarships beginning with the following Fall semester.
• Gamecock Transfer Scholarship – 2.0-2.99 GPA, $1,000 annual amount / $2,000 total 2-year amount

 

Competitive Merit Scholarships
These scholarships require submission of an application via JAX State’s Scholarship Manager.

• Phi Theta Kappa Transfer Scholarship – 3.5+ GPA, 45+ transfer hours, scholarship application, proof of membership – $2,000 total 2-year amount.
• Opportunity Transfer Scholarship – 3.0+ GPA, scholarship application – $2,000 annual amount / $4,000 total 2-year amount

 

Beginning Fall 2025, JAX State is proud to offer one (1) Presidential Transfer Leadership Scholarship to an outstanding transfer student Gadsden State. This competitive scholarship is valued at full tuition and is renewable for 1 year (4 semesters). This scholarship is for tuition only and replaces any previously awarded academic merit scholarship offers. The recipient of this scholarship is selected by the Gadsden State Honors Committee. Please contact an advisor from the ARC department for more information. When offered a Presidential Transfer Leadership Scholarship, the student must accept their offer formally with JAX State no later than May 1. Presidential Transfer Leadership Scholarship recipients must start their JAX State studies in a fall term.

The requirements of JAX State's Presidential Transfer Leadership Scholarship are as follows:

1. 3.5 transfer GPA (calculated by JAX State)
2. 45+ transferable hours earned at an ACCS institution (calculated by JAX State)
3. Be classified at Jax State as a First-Time Transfer student for admission and scholarship purposes. This means that a student cannot have previously attended JAX State as a degree-seeking student. Students who previously enrolled at JAX State only as a dual enrollment, concurrent enrollment (Transfer Prep), or non-degree/transient student may be considered.
4. Be in good academic and disciplinary standing at the community college and at JAX State, if such history exists.
5. Have demonstrated ability to balance academic achievement with at least one of the following areas: campus involvement, community involvement/volunteerism, family responsibilities, scholarly achievements, or work/professional responsibilities.
6. Commitment to serve as a Transfer Student Mentor (TSM) during the first year at JAX State. Transfer Student Mentors will serve as a recruitment and enrollment resource to prospective transfer students from their former community college upon their enrollment at JAX State. In the second year, recipients may either continue as a TSM or choose another campus group to continue their involvement.

Transfer Prep

Prospective transfer students seeking admission to the college must submit transcripts from all previously enrolled institutions. As an open-enrollment institution, Miles College does not require prospective students to submit standardized test scores to gain admissions to the college. Once a prospective student completes their admissions application and submits their transcripts from all previously enrolled institutions, they’re automatically considered for institutional scholarships.

• Presidential Scholarship (Full) - 3.7 to 4.0 GPA, ACT 24 or higher/SAT 1190 and higher

Mississippi State University offers transfer scholarships for non-residents. They are eligible for 5 semesters and are received per year.

• 3.75-4.0 GPA — $14,000 scholarship plus $4,000 Phi Theta Kappa Scholarship
• 3.5-3.74 GPA — $12,000 scholarship plus $4,000 Phi Theta Kappa Scholarship
• 3.25-3.49 GPA — $12,000 scholarship plus $2,000 Phi Theta Kappa Scholarship

• Military Tuition Waiver: 100% of the non-resident portion of tuition is waived for veterans, active duty service members and their dependents.

Traditional transfer students are automatically considered for merit scholarships upon earning full admission to Samford University. Scholarship applications open Sep 1 for Fall and Spring.

 

These scholarship opportunities include:

• Crosland Scholarship: ($17,500 average) – 3.5 transfer GPA or higher and 24 credits earned
• Marion Scholarship: ($13,000 average) – 3.0 transfer GPA or higher and 24 credits earned
• Sherman Oak Scholarship: ($1,000 average) – Must have a family member who graduated from or is currently attending Samford.
• Phi Theta Kappa Scholarship: ($2,500 average) – Must be a member of Phi Theta Kappa.
• STEM Scholars: Must have completed two years of community college in a science or math-related field to complete your bachelor’s degree through Samford University’s STEM Scholars program. This program is supported by the National Science Foundation and designed specifically for academically-gifted transfer students who need financial assistance to complete their degrees. Selected students will receive an average of $10,000 annually that can be combined with other merit awards and need-ased aid.

STEM Scholars 

Talladega College offers institutional scholarships and tuition and fee waivers to junior college or community college graduates based on availability. Minimum qualifications include:

1. a minimum grade point average (GPA) of 3.00 (on a 4.00 scale) and official proof of graduation for all scholarship applicants;
2. all scholarship recipients must enroll and maintain a minimum of 15 hours each semester during the academic year; and

Transfer students must be admitted before applying for scholarships. Once accepted, students should create a profile on the scholarship website, then apply for all scholarships. Although no deadline is set, students are encouraged to apply as early as possible.

 

ONETROY Transfer Merit Scholarships — Applicants must have completed at least 45 hours of transferable (non-technical, non-remedial) academic credit. Students must enroll in at least 12 hours each semester to maintain eligibility. Online learners are also eligible for the scholarship; however, they must have at least 24 hours of transferable academic credit and must be enrolled in at least six hours each term to maintain eligibility. Scholarship awards are based on GPA and are good for two years or eight terms:

• 2.5-2.74 GPA — $1,000 per year
• 2.75-2.99 GPA — $2,000 per year
• 3.0-3.49 GPA — $3,000 per year
• 3.5+ GPA — $4,000 per year

NEW Transfer Presidential Scholarship – One student will be selected by the Gadsden State Honors Committee to receive a $12,000 per academic year tuition-only scholarship for 2 years – excluding summer to Troy. To qualify, each student much have completed 45 transferable credit hours with a 3.5 GPA.

Phi Theta Kappa Transfer Scholarship — $5,000 per year for two years — Applicant must be a PTK member and submit a letter of recommendation from the PTK college advisor. The scholarship is competitive, and students submit an application to be considered. Students cannot stack this scholarship with other Troy transfer scholarships.

Online Transfer Scholarship

The University of Alabama offers automatic and competitive scholarships for qualifying transfer students. Scholarships are awarded based on residency type. Automatic awards are both entry terms described while competitive awards are only awarded one time per year and require a scholarship application. Awards can stack on top of each other provided that it does not exceed the cost of overall tuition. Deadlines are March 1 for Fall semester entry and October 1 for Spring semester entry.

 

Automatic Scholarships

Students will be considered automatically for the following transfer scholarships provided they have never attended another four-year institution since graduating from high school, have at least 45 transferable hours, have at least a 3.5 GPA on file at UA by the appropriate deadline mentioned above and a complete application for admission.

• Community College Distinguished Scholarship — 3.75+ GPA — $6,000 per year for two years (45+ hours)
• Community College Achievement Scholarship — 3.5-3.74 GPA — $4,000 per year for two years (45+ hours)
• Phi Theta Kappa Honors Scholarship — 3.5 GPA — $1,500 per year for two years — Must submit scholarship application and provide proof of membership. (45+ hours)
• All-Alabama Academic Scholarship — 3.5 GPA — $650 per semester plus $300 book grant for four semesters. Must be named to All-Alabama Academic Team.

 

Competitive Scholarships

Students must complete an application for admission, a transfer scholarship application by March 1 and have 45 hours completed and on file at UA in order to be eligible for competitive scholarships. Students must not have attended another four-year institution since graduating from high school (unless otherwise indicated). Tuition is $1,500.

• Presidential Transfer Scholarship — Full tuition for two years — Students must complete the UA scholarship application and be nominated by the Gadsden State Honors Committee. To be considered, students must submit a GSCC transfer scholarship application form, which is sent to all current students through GSCC email early in the Spring term. The GSCC application form must be received by the deadline stated in the email.
• Financial Aid Community College Honors Scholarship — Full tuition for two years
• Community College Excellence Scholarship — Full tuition for two years
• National Alumni Association Community College Honors Scholarship — $2,000 per year plus $300 book grant per year for two years.
• Roll Tide Transfer Scholarship — $3,000 per year for up to 3 years — Requires only 15 transferable hours and credit can come from any previous institution (two-year or four-year).

Bama By Distance (online) Scholarships

Application Guidelines:

 

The 2025–2026 UA Online scholarship application opens on March 1, 2025. For priority consideration for Fall 2025/Spring 2026 awards, please apply by June 1, 2025.

To be considered for all UA Online scholarships, you must submit one scholarship application each year and be currently enrolled or admitted to the University before applying. The application is submitted online through myBama.

To access the application, log in and select Admissions/Scholarships and navigate to the Scholarships section. Under the All Graduate/Undergraduate Students subheading, select the Alabama Scholarship Award Manager link.

Award notifications will be sent to your Crimson email according to the following schedule:

• Fall 2025/Spring 2026 award notices will be sent in late July 2025
• Summer 2026 award notices will be sent in late November 2025

Transfer students must be admitted to UAB by the appropriate deadline (March 1 for Fall/Summer & December 1 for Spring) and have a minimum 3.0 cumulative, transferable GPA for scholarship consideration.

 

Automatic Consideration Scholarships

Transfer students are considered automatically for one of the following scholarships upon admission to UAB by the corresponding deadline:

• Phi Theta Kappa – $3,000 up to 6 semesters – 3.0-4.0 GPA – Must also provide proof of Phi Theta Kappa membership (letter from PTK Advisor to UAB preferred)
• Transfer Excellence – $4,000 up to 6 semesters – 3.5-4.0 GPA
• Transfer Pathway Scholarship – $2,000 up to 6 semester – 3.0-3.49 GPA

All scholarships above are renewable for a total of three years (or six semesters).

Competitive Scholarships

• Community College Presidential Scholarship – $12,000 per year for two years (or four semesters). Nominees for the scholarship are selected by the Gadsden State Honors Committee; final selection is made by UAB.
  • Students must be admitted to UAB by March 1 for the Summer/Fall semester, earn a non-technical associate degree by the end of the Spring semester, earn a GPA of 3.5 or higher, and be an Alabama resident.
  • Students must submit a GSCC transfer scholarship application form. This is sent to all current students through GSCC email early in the Spring term. The GSCC application form must be received by the Honors Committee by the deadline stated in the student email.
• Additional scholarship opportunities (from academic departments) are available beginning Sept. 1 through the BSMART portal upon admission to UAB. Offers extended will be applied starting in the Fall semester.

Students that visit the college for a private tour or a UM Day will receive the Transfer Visit Scholarship in the amount of $1,000. This scholarship will be split amongst the semesters students will attend.

Transfer Scholarship Information

 

Transfer students are considered automatically for these scholarships upon admittance to the University of North Alabama with 30 or more transferable credit hours. The scholarship deadline is June 1 for the fall semester. The academic requirements and scholarship amounts are:

• 3.75-4.0 GPA + 30 credit hours - $4,500 per year
• 3.25-3.74 GPA + 30 credit hours - $3,500 per year
• 3.00-3.24 GPA + 30 credit hours - $3,000 per year
• 2.00-2.99 GPA - $2,000 per year

The transfer scholarships are renewable for three additional continuous semesters (excluding summer terms) as long as all renewal requirements are met and the student is meeting all other eligibility requirements.

To receive credit for the transfer scholarship, the student must be a U.S. citizen and be enrolled in at least 12 undergraduate hours at UNA each semester for which the scholarship is payable.

The Phi Theta Kappa Scholarship is an additional $1,000 scholarship. Students must have their PTK advisor submit a letter stating that they are a good member in ‘good standing.’ The letter should be sent to admissions@una.edu by June 1.

Special recognition scholarships include:

• Non-qualifying UNA Scholarship Student — $2,000 per year
• Qualifying UNA Scholarship Student — Original scholarship plus $2,000 per year. Combination offers will not exceed $8,500 a year.
